Elizabeth Farrell

Elizabeth Farrell

Piano, Voice, Woodwinds, Brass

Elizabeth Farrell began her music education at 8 years old when she started private piano lessons. A year later she joined the instrumental program in her community playing the clarinet and had her first solo in the elementary school choir. By 8th grade she fully realized music was her passion and has been playing and singing ever since!

After high school, Elizabeth was accepted to Berklee College of Music for piano which culminated into a Bachelors degree in Music Education. Her professional career began in Connecticut working for a company dedicated to providing private music lessons to home schooled children. During that time she taught everything from piano & voice to alto saxophone & baritone horn.

Elizabeth’s next move brought her to the public schools in urban Bridgeport, CT. In Bridgeport, she developed a successful music program in a new school, building Band, Chorus and DrumLine programs in addition to teaching general music classes from PreK to 8th grade. After only one year, she was chosen to collaborate with the Yale School of Music & Greater Bridgeport Symphony in the Music and Book Writing program. Her students performed the vocal soundtrack and were involved in its composition. Elizabeth also worked closely with the city’s Director of Performing Arts to create an impressive music summer camp with both vocal and instrumental focus for the city.

In 2010 Elizabeth accepted a position in Sarasota Florida as Director of Music at Sarasota School of Arts and Sciences. Her mission was to revive and repair a failing program. She directed 6th grade choir, Bella Voce, an all-girls audition based vocal ensemble, coached all singers in the Musical Theatre production, started their first ever DrumLine, and was the conductor for both Beginning Concert Band and Advanced Concert Band. In just one year, she turned the music department into a success and brought musical interest, passion and excitement back into the lives of it’s students.

In 2011, Elizabeth made the incredibly difficult decision to leave the public and private school systems in order to concentrate on teaching private music lessons from her home studio in Sarasota FL.  Since then Elizabeth Farrell Music has grown into a multi-location music school, recruiting the areas top qualified teachers and offering music instruction including everything from orchestral strings to Rock Band classes.  Elizabeth continues paving the way for expansion to bring top tier and professional instruction to local residents.  She also contracts for curriculum development for local charter and private schoools in the Sarasota area.

Elizabeth enjoys keeping a very light performing scheduling and continues plays Bass Clarinet for local wind ensembles and is the Pianist & bass clarinetist for The Pops Orchestra.
