Craig Alan Carroll
Craig Alan Carroll
Voice, Piano, Guitar, Brass
Craig Alan Carroll began his journey with music on the piano at age 4, quickly followed by trumpet at 9, singing and guitar at 14, and analog synthesis at 18. During his senior year of high school, he had the honor of rehearsing and conducting a piece of his choosing with the band. These early events pointed him toward a life in music.
Once he arrived at college, he began study in French horn and euphonium as well, before finding his passion in the voice. It began with a single art song, Der Neugierige, by Franz Schubert, but soon singing was all he could think about. He filled his schedule with lessons, choirs, and bands, often battling the college registrar for a lift on his semester credits cap. His drive to perform and instruct netted him the position of section leader for the three years he was in Concert Choir, and led to Craig receiving the Outstanding Senior Award, which is issued once per graduating class. To culminate his performance experience in college, he performed his school’s Alma Mater at his graduation a capella in front of 3,500 onlookers.
Beyond performance in college, he was also the lead music tutor, aiding others in music theory outside of class, but also splitting the students with the professor and teaching the course. Craig found that not only was he able to easily communicate the material to others, but that he greatly enjoyed doing it, and took that same passion of teaching to instructing voice & piano lessons soon after.
Since graduating from Carroll University (Waukesha, WI) in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, he has performed as a lead vocalist for the European brass band, Blaskapelle Milwaukee, as well as a tenor chorister with the Master Singers of Milwaukee, and previously performed with Sarasota’s professional choir, Gloria Musicae, as well as singing lead at St. Boniface Episcopal Church.
In his lessons, Craig teaches students of the importance of comfort and flexibility in performance through fulfilling experiences and knowledge-oriented practice. He focuses on unlocking the potential of each individual by instructing them as just that: an individual. With lessons tailored to meet the students’ separate needs, Craig can better help them find the path to their ideal performance.
Today you can find Craig teaching, or in the studio recording on guitar and vocals with his alternative rock band, MidOcean.
