Christina Diederich
Christina Diederich
Piano
Inspired by her musical family, Christina began her involvement with music and performing at the very young age of four. She started singing in her church’s choir and by six, playing viola in her elementary school orchestra. Being so curious and drawn to music, Christina picked up the trumpet at 10 and played with her school band. She always had a piano in her home growing up, but didn’t get serious with learning until 13 years old, when she decided she would play Fur Elise for her German class presentation.
High school paved the way for many more musical outlets. She spent her time performing in musicals, singing in the advanced choir and also an audition only acapella group. Even though she was only a high school student, she was also the accompanist of the vocal jazz ensemble, a position traditionally reserved for a professional musician. Christina helped lead this group to win nationwide competitions each year. Her high school music career culminated with a piano performance at graduation in front of 4000 people.
Christina went on to study piano and voice, graduating college with a Bachelor’s in Music Industry from SUNY Fredonia in New York. During this time she would continue to teach classmates piano and music theory and also accompany for various performances at the university. Studying the music industry gave Christina a unique knowledge base including copyrights, sound & recording equipment, concert & event planning and also an incredible opportunity of interning at a recording studio.
Christina discovered during this time that she not only had a natural gift for teaching, but that it was very rewarding and enjoyable. She decided to take an internship position with Elizabeth Farrell Music, working and training directly with Elizabeth Farrell and becoming the studio’s resident on-call instructor. With rave reviews from students and parents alike, Christina was easily first choice once a full time position opened at EFMusic in 2018.
In addition to teaching for EFMusic, Christina maintains an active performance schedule and always seeks to further her education. in 2020, while on route to her 2nd Bachelors in Piano Performance, Christina won the Student Artist Competition at the FCSAA Winter Music Symposium in Lakeland, FL. She also attended the Prague Piano Festival in The Czech Republic in 2022, where she participated in masterclasses, private lessons and performed a final recital. Christina graduated from The University of South Florida with her Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance in December 2023. She maintains an active performing schedule including private events, chruches and has accompanied for the State College of Florida. She is also the official pianist of the Church of the Trinity MCC here in Sarasota.
