Loryn Steele is a 2nd generation professional musician and master Educator. Daughter of a world-renowned concert violinist and Juilliard alumni, Loryn was immersed in the world of music at an early age when her father introduced her to violin at 5 years old. Since then she’s studied classical guitar, voice and piano and went on to study music at some of the most prestigious music institutes in the United States.
Loryn earned her Bachelors from the University of Rochester. Here, she further trained at the Eastman School of Music (accepted by audition and examination) on voice, violin and theory courses. She participated in the Universities Glee Club, Chapel Choir, Eastman Vocal Jazz Ensemble and was an editor and writer for the Campus Times. Awarded with a Merit Scholarship based on audition, Loryn then continued training at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston on a dual major track for Vocal Performance & Music Education with over 64 credits between the two disciplines. Loryn went on to earn her Masters in Education with focus in Music and Theater, as well as English, at Eastern Oregon University where she graduated with a 4.0 and was first in class. To round out her knowledge, she also took an independent study with renowned music educator, Dr. Carlo Bowles, specifically focusing on training the adolescent male singing voice.
Upon moving to Sarasota in 2003, Loryn worked with renowned Carlo Thomas locally and would fly back and forth to New York to study with another legened, Donald Myers. They would hone her skill further and help prepare for many auditions. Carlo Thomas even invited Loryn to co-teach with him at New College of Florida. As a performer, Loryn has been on stage for years from community performances to world famous Carnegie hall. She’s performed as both soloist & in orchestra for violin, and soloist & ensemble for voice from the East Coast to West for multiple Churches, Weddings, Musical productions and other private gigs. She continues to perform locally in Sarasota County areas.
Now, Loryn has over 25 years of teaching experience including private, classroom and ensemble. She is a certified educator across multiple states with Certifications including Music K-12, Drama 6-12, & Elementary Education K-5 as well as ESOL endorsement. Professional affiliations include MENC, FMEA, American Choral Association and the Florida Vocal Association. Loryn has held positions as Music & Drama Teacher at the European Academy of Early Education, Music teacher and New Gate Montessori in Sarasota Florida, Pinellas Prep. Academy in Largo Florida, and Anna Maria Island Elementary School. Today she shares her talents with students at the Rock Box teaching voice, violin and piano.
