Kristyn Knapp

Voice

Kristyn Knapp is an experienced vocalist and seasoned educator with a love for music and teaching. Piano was her first instrument, starting lessons at 6 years old and continuing until middle school, when her teacher realized that her heart really was in singing.  From there she switched her focus to vocal training.  She would join choirs and other vocal groups from elementary school through her senior year of high school, as well as performing in the New York State NYSSMA and at the All-Sate levels. Additionally Kristyn was active in her school and community Musical Theatre programs from 7th grade and beyond.

After high school, Kirstyn attended Hartwick College and earned her Bachelors of Music Education & Vocal Performance. Her first internship was at a school for students with special needs. She was blessed to work with a music therapist, occupational therapist, and a physical therapist, thoroughly rounding out her educational training with invaluable skills.  Kristyn began teaching private lessons and also directing musical theater while in New York and continued both after moving to Florida. In Florida she accepted the position as Elementary Music Teacher for Imagine Schools where she developed a 60 member student choir, directed the theater program, managed talent shows and co-coached the competition Cheer squad.  Currently, she directs for The Charlotte Players summer children’s theater program. She herself has been in over 35 musical theatre productions over the course of her career.

In 2019, Kristyn received a Masters in Literacy, choosing this focus specifically because she knows how important the English language along with reading development align with the highest quality teaching across all disciplines, including Music Education.

Kristyn has been teaching voice at the Rock Box since 2021 where her high energy teaching style inspires, engages and encourages students of all ages and levels.
