Faroh “Storm” Castaneda

Faroh “Storm” Castaneda

Drumset, Percussion, Guitar & Bass

Faroh “Storm” Castaneda began his musical training in 6th grade on percussion. In both middle school & high school, Faroh would participate in all the audition based ensembles such as all county and all district.  During these formative years, he also began playing drumset at churches and local venues, all while teaching himself to play guitar on the side. By high school he was in every ensemble they had to offer, including marching band, jazz band, pit orchestra and wind ensemble.  As a sophomore he was accepted to play snare drum in the Great American Marching Band in the famous Macy’s Day Parade in New York City. In the following years he’d continue to study and perform on drumset, guitar and bass guitar in various groups along with diving into composition to write his own music.

Faroh continued as a busy and versatile performer ever since. He has performed in WGI (Winter Guard International) with Forza East Independent Percussion based out of Greenville NC, as bassist with Valiant Thorr that toured Europe, North America and South America and was part of the Warped Tour. He’s also been in several rock bands based out of North Carolina. Now, Faroh plays in several Florida based bands including Suitless Myridia (guitar) and Deep Freyed Blues (drumset). In addition to performing, Faroh has been featured on different albums, including Valiant Thor’s most recent “Old Salt” on guitar and bass guitar and Revolving Beast’s self titled album playing guitar, drums, bass and background vocals. As a fun fact, you can also find Valiant Thor’s music on video games like guitar Hero 2 and Need for Speed!

For over 15 years, Faroh has also been a music educator. He has taught private guitar, drumset, percussion and bass guitar to students of all ages in Jacksonville North Carolina at several local music schools and served as the drumline instructor for Jacksonville High school, Northside High school and Swansboro HighSchool.  He continued teaching after moving to Florida at Educators Music in Cape Coral and now, Faroh is part of the excellent team of music instructors at the Rock Box in North Port Florida.
