Erica Gibson is a 3rd-generation musician with a B.A in Music from Lebanon Valley College of Pennsylvania. She got her start in southern New Jersey studying both piano and flute as a young child and teen. Her teaching career began while only in high school when she took on a handful of her own private students. Notably, she was also a member of the Philadelphia Sinfonia Orchestra with which she performed in the Netherlands and Belgium on tour.
At Lebanon Valley College, Erica’s principal instrument was piano with a concentration in both Music Performance and Composition. During this time, she was a sought after accompanist, participated in a number musical ensembles, including orchestras, small ensembles & percussion ensemble, performed locally, and composed original incidental music for a production of Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap.” She joined the LVC Orchestra for 2 European tours, performing at many world-famous venues in Austria, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
Post-college, Erica worked as a teacher in the public school system for 3 years before taking up residency teaching at a southern NJ music academy where she remained on the faculty for 13 years. During this time, she spent countless hours in Philadelphia recording studios writing, recording, and producing original music. She is half of the alt-electronic duo Bury the Wren which has had music featured on national and international movies, shows, and ads.
In 2021 Erica followed the rest of her family down to Florida, having first taught for a year in the Miami area. She has resided in Bradenton for the last 3 years teaching both public lessons at Manatee School for the Arts , private lesson students and a intermitendly teaching as a subsitute instructor for Elizabeth Farrell Music. Today, in addition to her performing shedule, we at EFMUSIC are lucky to have Erica as a permanent faculty member..
