Amy Marbut

Amy Marbut

Violin, Cello, Viola, Piano

From a very young age, Amy Marbut was fascinated and interested in music. As a child, she played on her mother’s piano and discovered she had a passion for not only performing, but composing music. Amy was exposed to violin in her public school instrumental program, and fell in love.

Shortly after beginning her violin training, she was already successfully auditioning for performances within her community. One of her first gigs was for the Virginia Renaissance Festival as a court musician. This was only the start. Amy’s determination, persistence and amazing practice ethic put positioned her to win competitions, awards, and land seats in All-State Orchestras. Her teaching career even began at the high school level. Because of Amy’s strong reputation as a talented musician she was often asked to coach classmates for performances and auditions as well as tutor in music theory.

College was no different. Amy often found herself tutoring classmates and peers with their music. Her help assisted them in understanding the essence of the music they were performing and the complexities of theory. Her college career culminated in a Bachelors of Art: Music Composition from the University of South Florida, with her primary instrument being violin.

Amy has been teaching and performing ever since. She successfully auditioned into the Bay Area Renaissance Fair as a street musician where she wrote several pieces in the style of Irish Fiddle and performed as a folk violinist. Amy has been a member of many small ensembles, chamber groups as well as performing with the Mostly Pops Orchestra in 2011. Over the years, she has been commissioned to write and arrange pieces, both vocal and instrumental. Today she continues to perform for weddings and other special events. She is also a member of the online string quartet, A2i, where she composes, arranges and performs.

Amy has a winning record as a teacher, as she was sent many students on to win competitions for both solo and ensemble playing as well as successfully auditioning into All County and All State orchestras. Today, Amy teaches violin, viola, cello and piano to students in Sarasota, Fl.
